REGION 7 EETT California State Tech Plan Writing WIKI
Technology plans are to be submitted to the CTAP Regional office by 5:00 PM on the date listed below:
- Cycle A - September 17, 2010
- Cycle B - November 19, 2010
- Cycle C - March 11, 2011
All three cycles will lead to a state-approved technology plan, however, Federal auditing requirements for E-Rate funds require school districts to have a complete technology plan prior to filing their Form 470. In order to meet the E-Rate requirements for Form 470, it is recommended that districts submit their technology plans for state approval during either Cycle A or Cycle B.
Why three cycles? It gives districts time to plan, evaluate new programs, get feedback from stakeholders, obtain authorization for expenditures, etc. It also prevents all the plans showing up at one time.
Use this WIKI and the Tech Plan template in conjunction with your
CTAP tech plan writing support person.

Begin by getting an update on formatting and content changes that have been made since you last wrote your plan: there have been many. Then, go through your current plan and change dates, names of persons, etc.Evaluate the goals in Section 3. Are they still valid or do you want to set different goals? Review Section 5. Do you need more hardware, infrastructure, software, etc. This is critical if you are using E-rate. Now you are ready to work with your CTAP contact person to groom your plan for submission to the CDE.
Heads up! A major new requirement from CDE that you do not have in your current plan: two new curriculum goals. One addresses copyright and fair use, the other, Internet saftey. We can help.
