Summary of Technology Skills
4A Tech Skills Summary
A short summary of teachers' and administrators' technology proficiency and integration skills and needs for professional development. Ed Tech Profile Charts.
Best Practice: Include Ed Tech Profile's 3 visual bar charts along with a narrative describing them. 1. General Computer and Knowledge and Skills Bar Chart 2. CCTC Program Standard 9: Using Technology in the Classroom Bar Chart 3. CCTC Program Standard 16: Using Technology to Support Student Learning Bar Chart *In order to have accurate data from these charts, it is recommended to have the teachers take the survey prior to running a report. The system will only chart data for staff that are current on their surveys. Call Brian Curwick for suggestions on how to get this started for the district. 559.497.3786
Avoid kickback: Be sure to state administrators participation in Ed Tech Profile and staff development
4B Staff Development Goals
Select your goals carefully, a low staff score in databases which results in database training may not be what's best for student learning outcomes.
There are two goal domains:
1) Productivity Software (i.e - Office, SIS, SASI, gradebooks)
Training resources: Training from County Offices CTAP Training User Groups Atomic Learning Licenses through TECHSETS on $25 Vendor delivered training Free web based tutorials
2) Integration and Presentation Software (i.e. - Web 2.0 tools (K12EdZone, portal usage, Powerpoint, Google Tools, Podcasting) Training resources: Training from County Offices CTAP Training CUE www.cue.org CVCUE www.cvcue.org CLMS CLHS User Groups Atomic Learning Licenses through TECHSETS on $25 Vendor delivered training Free web based tutorials
Best Practice: County Office and CTAP training is often bundled with necessary hardware, more bang for your buck
EETT ALERT! 25% of the total funding most go to staff development
4C Monitor Development
Good staff development means feedback. Sign in sheets and once a year meetings do not meet the criteria for "feedback".
BEST PRACTICE: Admin participates in training modules for knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
Leadership tools:
Use CITED.org's fast, 10 question self assessment staff-wide to plan staff development:
CITED Self Assessment
Take the self-assessment to get started in identifying your current EdTech Location. Each short assessment consists of 5-7 multiple choice questions.
Select an assessment: Teachers | Administrators | Tech Coordinators | PD Coordinators
CITED Scoring Rubric and Locator ProfileAfter using the self assessments, add up your points and use the scoring rubric to discover your own unique Locator Profile.
Select a rubric: Teachers | Administrators | Tech Coordinators | PD Coordinators
Ed Tech Profile - other tools and pre/post tests (Jon will talk with Brian C)
Develop a tech training plan - don't wait! register for events in the fall.
Monitoring Responsiblities by site:
Site: Tech Coach, Admin or Tech Committee assists with implementing, selecting and follow up
District: Admin or Tech Coach collects and aggregates site data, provides feedback
• Site reports to district for mid-year feedback - and equipment, network or training adjustments
BEST PRACTICE: Consider a web based tool (Rubistar, Teachertube, PBWIKI to share feedback, successes and network between staff)
Along with a few paragraphs outlining each persons (principal, teachers, district tech. committee, etc.) responsibility in monitoring and evaluating staff development consider a chart like this:
